Grievance Procedure Update

The Presidential Advisory Committee recommended that the University's grievance procedure (Administrative Guide Memo 22.10) be modified so that all employees (including Temporary and Casual employees) are eligible to use the procedure. The President adopted this recommendation, and also stated that the University will continue its efforts to improve communication and education of employees regarding the grievance procedure. As a result, the following actions have been taken:

  • September 1, 2005, Administrative Guide Memo 22.10 was modified to apply to all regular (including trial period), casual and temporary employees.
  • October 15, 2005, the revised brochure, "Solving Workplace Problems at Stanford" which included the modified policy, was distributed to all staff.
  • October 2005, the Grievance Form, the Grievant User's Guide, and the Employee & Labor Relations Grievance Procedure documents were all revised and clarified/discussed with all Employee & Labor Relation staff at the University, School of Medicine, and SLAC.
  • December 15, 2005, the Administrative Guide update included the modified policy in Memo 22.10, Grievance Procedure.
